Autumn Conference 2025: Celebrating Community and Collaboration in Port Talbot

We had a fantastic time in Port Talbot for our Autumn Conference. Forecasts of rain didn’t materialise, and we were instead treated to a bright Autumn morning to kick-off with. Our venue for the day was the New Plaza, a former cinema that has been restored to community use following a £65million renovation.

In attendance on the day was a mix of DTA Wales members and partners, all gathered to network, socialise and learn together. We had workshops running throughout the day on a range of topics:

  • Using values to inform our strategic decisions and ways of working
  • Electric Car Clubs – a case study in social enterprise consortia
  • Launching our Community Buildings Hub
  • A case study from Splott Community Volunteers and launching our Charity Shops Resource
  • Communities taking ownership of historic buildings with the Architectural Heritage Fund
  • Funding advice and guidance with The National Lottery Communities Fund

It was brilliant to catch up with longstanding members, meet new ones, and hear the buzz of conversation throughout the day – we’re already looking forward to the next one!

The following day we came back together as a staff team to debrief after a busy day and look ahead at our programmes and priorities for supporting groups and our members in Wales. We had some really productive discussions around opportunities and needs in the sector, potential campaigns, and of course the coming Senydd elections.

Check out the photos from the day!
