Description & History

Menter Môn is comprised of two companies Menter Môn Cyf which works closely with many partners to foster enterprise on Anglesey and Annog Cyf its trading company.

Menter Môn Cyf was incorporated in 1996 as community owned company with the purpose of supporting economic development and to administer EU rural development programmes. Since that time it has grown into a leading programme and project delivery agent, designing, implementing and evaluating European and other public sector programmes.

The company has attracted in excess of £50 million of grant funding from various sources for a range of activities since it was established almost twenty years ago. It has delivered projects as diverse as establishing a Youth Theatre, renovating community buildings, graduate placements in local businesses and multi million pound tidal energy project.

Annog Cyf is a sister company to Menter Môn Cyf. Having evolved from an organisation established to administer rural development programmes for almost two decades; its approach is rooted in delivering projects aimed at supporting the rural economy.

Annog Cyf delivers work programmes on behalf of private, voluntary and public organisation across North Wales. With over 40 members Menter Mon has a unique blend of skills and experience and is well suited to working in rural communities.

Emerging & Proposed Future Developments

Cwlwm Seiriol: They have just been awarded £1,098,000 from the National Lottery to run a project to bond the community of Seiriol to an improved, managed and sustainable natural environment. It will take a catchment wide approach across the three rural communities of the Seiriol Ward of South East Anglesey, where important common lands and community owned assets are undergoing habitat degradation.

Morlais Tidal Energy: Menter Mon have recently been awarded £4.5 million of EU funding to develop the Morlais tidal energy project. This funding will support the first phase which will include gaining consent for the site and developing plans for infrastructure.  Eight tidal energy companies from around the world have already signed up and have made a financial commitment to the project.  Our motivation for the project is too secure local benefit through the supply chain services.
