Rogiet Community Cafe

With the imminent closure of the village shop in 2014 and the threat of the post office leaving the village a small group of local people got together. They were concerned that with the shop gone there was now no place for the community to meet informally, they were losing a really important part of the social fabric of the village. Out of the results of a community survey as well as the desire for a shop and to keep the post office, the idea for a community café was born. The group also spoke to the post office and suggested that they would provide a café (initially a few cakes teas and coffee) if they would provide a post office van service.

We are currently supporting the group to look into acquiring land and building a shop and cafe to serve the community by strengthening their business plan and offering specialist support around lease negotiation.
