Coordinating Supply Chains
Coordinating public procurement supply chains can be a complex business and communication between groups of growers and intermediaries such as wholesalers can be challenging. The Grower-Wholesaler Communication Tool below is designed to make the process easier, helping to ensure that the right quantities of the right crops are available for collection from farms at the right time.
This communication tool collects and processes information on the availability of produce for an unlimited number of crops from up to 50 growers on a week-by-week basis during the period over which produce is supplied.
The tool contains:
- A master sheet sets out the total demand for produce from Local Authorities.
- Drop down menus allows the user to see at a glance the following data for each grower and for each crop on a week-by-basis:
- Projected volumes
- Volumes available, if different from projected
- Volumes collected
- Growers enter their own data on a weekly using intuitive google forms, which take no more than 1 minute to complete.
- Data collated and summarised in a weekly master sheet, enabling supply chain managers to monitor supply across the whole project.
- Data is collated and summarised for logistics managers enabling them to plan routes and pick up times.
