Heating Systems

Heating systems usually form the single largest expense for most organisations running community buildings. For those groups using oil or gas, the heating system will also likely represent the largest percentage of their carbon emissions. Finding more efficient systems will typically reduce both cost and emissions—though some changes (replacing gas with direct electric heating, for example) may reduce emissions but not cost.

This document investigates different heating systems, looking at their advantages and disadvantages, their running costs, and what we can do to optimise heating systems, particularly during installation.
