Starting Small: First Steps On Your Efficiency Journey

It is easy to look at a large problem: perhaps your annual energy bills, or the carbon emissions of an individual or an organisation, and to simply conclude that nothing can be done about it, that the problem is too large to overcome.  As anyone involved in the running of a community building can testify, the management of these spaces brings many challenges including the age or poor condition of the building, a too-small group of volunteers, or a lack of resources to address problems.

In this document, we will look at a range of different steps we can all take to reduce energy usage, reduce costs and reduce carbon emissions.  Money (frequently a constraining factor for community buildings) is not a barrier because most of the measures are free or relatively low-cost.
