DTA Wales is looking for Peer Mentors for our current and upcoming programmes

Date: 06.03.2023

Do you have Social Enterprise or Community-based experience that you could share with other new enterprises and groups across Wales?

Peer Mentors are at the heart of what we do at Development Trusts Association (DTA) Wales.  Our peer mentors support, empower and develop the capacity of community groups to reach their goals.

We are looking to create a mentor pool to support a range of projects, and to better reflect our current programme needs in terms of the skills, sectors, geographic locations and experience of working with diverse groups that we’re increasingly being asked to support.  We are looking for new mentors who have experience (in a community or social enterprise setting) of;

Skills – you can support groups with any of the following:

  • Coding and strategy applications
  • Income generation and financial strategy
  • Business development and planning
  • Community Asset Transfer
  • Human Resources
  • B2B Procurement readiness

Sectors – you have knowledge of any of these sectors that groups may be working in:

  • Health and Social Care
  • Growing and Food Services
  • Retail services, Sport and Tourism
  • Community Asset/ Property Management
  • Education and Training
  • Climate Change and Sustainability

Diversity – you have personal or professional experience of working with individuals who identify as any of the following:

  • LGBTQIA+
  • Neurodiverse
  • Racially minoritised communities
  • People with disabilities (all types)
  • Socio-economically Disadvantaged groups
  • Young People
  • Welsh Language

Peer mentors are paid for the work they do. They are either hosted by a third-sector organisation or directly contracted by DTA Wales. There is no guarantee that a given Peer Mentor will receive any assignments to support a group. All programmes supported by mentoring are demand-led and responsive to emergent requests.

Pay:

£300 per day (7 hours) for Social Business Wales (and other projects unless otherwise specified)
£250 / day (7 hours) for Egin (if you are not hosted by an organisation)

Mentors might be asked to work on one or all of our programmes, depending on your skills and experience. These programmes, currently, are:

Social Business Wales

Egin (Climate and Sustainability)

Community Ownership Fund

If you feel you would like to apply to join our pool of Peer Mentors, please contact us at info@dtawales.org.uk with some information about yourself so that we can set up a short chat and send over an application form.
