Congratulations to Arts Factory on their Cost of Living Grant!

Date: 12.06.2023

Members of DTA Wales, as well as members of Locality, DTA Northern Ireland or DTA Scotland, were encouraged back in February to apply for grant of £10,000 to help with the cost of living.

The money was raised through the Guardian and Observer annual charity appeal was promoted to help community organisations who are trying hard to support their communities through the cost of living crisis, while also facing increases in costs themselves.

We are pleased to announce that Arts Factory are one of the organisations who have been approved to receive the Cost of Living grant.

Arts Factory exists to create life-changing opportunities for individuals who feel written-off in our already disadvantaged communities.  They treat all people as valuable assets and have built a deep-rooted organisation that individuals can depend on for as long as they need it.  Their strap line is ‘no more throw away people’ and everyone is welcome at Arts Factory.

Here’s what they say:

“The cost-of-living grant will be used to build a stronger, more inclusive community by creating opportunities for marginalised and excluded people to develop skills, supportive social networks, self-confidence, and self- esteem.  The demand for support, advice, and guidance has increased within the community due to the cost-of-living crisis which meant that we needed to provide services to assist individuals and families.

The grant has allowed us to increase our cost-of-living crisis support sessions, offer warm safe space across our two community hubs, double our community offer and provide Health & Wellbeing Clubs, Mental Health Awareness, Parent & Toddler sessions, Volunteering opportunities, Energy & Benefit Advice, and help people access crisis grants and payments.  In addition, we also offer low-cost food parcels are a partner and distribution centre for Rhondda Foodbank and offer CAB sessions and in house counselling.”

We’ll be announcing the other DTA Wales members who have been awarded the grant soon!
